Easy to read spiritual books

Book Reviews Posted by Dima Add comments

If you looking for something easy to read but same time get some spiritual food out of it, here is couple books that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Prisoner in the Third Cell by Gene Edwards
This is very easy and very interesting book to read. If you like the stories then this is something you probably enjoy. The whole book is the narrative of John the Baptist. The book is short, about 70 pages I think. I read it in college in one night. The time when I read it I was really struggling seeing what God is trying to do in my life. It really helped me because it helped to realize what I need to do when I don’t understand what God is doing in my life. There is awesome ending to this book, see if you get the same point across that I got.

A Tale of three Kings: A Study in Brokenness by Gene Edwards
If you are drama queen or king and you enjoy watching plays and going to ballet to see Nutcracker, you will definitely enjoy this book. I am not very dramatic, but I still did enjoyed the book a lot. The book is about King David (who is one of my favorite characters in the Bible), Saul, and Absalom. The book shows David’s character and reveals his heart that he had for God, shows some struggles that he went through, and the image of Christ in his life. I think any person who will read this book will relate to it and fall in love with the character of David. The book is very short also, once you pick it up you will have a hard time putting it down. If you need encouragement in your life this book would be definitely it.

First-Century Diaries by Gene Edwards
So, I was taking Book of Acts in college because I love narratives in the Bible, and I was bored to death. I could not believe how dry and boring that class made Book of Acts sound. Anyways, one of the summers I had some free time so I decided to pick first volume from Gene Edwards’ Acts series: The Silas Diary. This book was so interesting I was done with it in a couple days. Then I read others: The Titus Diary, The Timothy Diary, and then Priscilla Diary. That’s where I stopped because of the lack of time, but I am thinking of finishing it on a missions trips flight, if I have any in the future. And there is the last volume called The Gaius History. These books made Book of Acts sound like a one simple story with a lot of historical background. There is even some humor in those books! I really enjoyed these books. I should have just read these books and not take that Acts class in college. Just try to read first seven pages of the first volume and you will see what I am talking about it.
