Too many have heard, but too few truly got to know who Jesus is.
Being a Christian does not mean going to church every Sunday. Being A Christian does not mean being a member of a Christian family.
Being a Christian starts not from conformation to some standards of living a Christian life, but from transformation from within the heart. Does your heart belong to Christ? Would you follow Jesus to where He would lead you?
“And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luk 9:23

One sign of a true Christian is that he is being changed/conformed to the Christ. Through his Word, prayer, and love. 1 Timothy 4:12 shows what we should be growing in as Christians, and we should be producing fruits of the Spirit: Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
1st Timothy 4:12
12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Why would Paul say this:
Romans 8:29
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world,[1] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
2 Corinthians 3:18
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
It seems we conform to Jesus through reading his word and following his will, and through that God transforms us.
conformity - State of things being similar, or identical; The ideology of adhering to one standard or social uniformity
transformation - the act of transforming or the state of being transformed; a marked change in appearance or character, especially one for the better

Wish I could edit my posts.
Looks like we need conformity and transformation in Jesus Christ in our lives to keep growing spiritually. Not of this world but of God.

Dima, this was very good! It hits me right where I’m at right now. Doubting that God really can change me. And it fits where I’m at in the book I’m reading–great book by Jerry Bridger, “The Discipline of Grace.” I was really encouraged by your message and hearing the passion in your voice when you talk about your relationship with God. Thanks!
