Real Treasure
September 2, 2010 | by Yuriy Dolzhanskiy | Category: English Thursdays
What are your values in life? What do you treasure and cherish the most? How much time and effort do you dedicate to various things during the day?
Average statistics of how much time we put into different activities:
Work – 8 hrs/day
School – 12 hrs/day
Cell phones – 2.5hrs/day
23.2 hrs/wk on internet (almost like a part-time job!)
7.5 hrs on Facebook/week
17.3 billion of hrs people spent on Myspace since it was up
What about you? If you call yourself a Christian, how much time do you spend reading and studying the Bible? How much time do you dedicate to witnessing to people? Statistics say that only ~2% of Christians witness to nonbelievers.
Bible tells us about men who valued people and time with God. Jesus Christ also valued people; He valued you and me so much that He decided to come to earth and be punished because of our sin. He was bruised, beaten for our transgressions and died on the cross. He poured His blood to give us salvation and eternal life with Him in heaven.
What is our answer to God’s love to us? Do we treasure what God treasures? Is God above all in our lives?
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” Mat.6:21
